Investors in People director
Ray Leach congratulates Sony New Zealand managing director Kazu
Yoshino on Sony's IIP accreditation
Staff retention has been boosted and turnover
has dropped significantly since Sony New Zealand implemented a new
HR framework that has also led to IIP (Investors in People) accreditation
– an internationally recognized framework for assessing successful
business performance.
“It is such an honour to be accredited with the IIP standard,”
says managing director, Kazu Yoshino. “Being the first company
in our business to achieve such a qualification is further proof
that Sony New Zealand is leading the market in our industry.’
New Zealand is one of more than 25 countries around the world which
has adopted the IIP standard. Over 200 companies of all sizes and
representing all sectors are using the standard as an organizational
development tool in New Zealand.
“Once organizations have met the IIP criteria and gain accreditation,
it becomes part of the culture, providing solutions from within
the organization of how to continually improve performance,”
says Investors in People director Ray Leach.
Sony has also recently introduced internal climate surveys that
review their current processes and practices. As a result of the
feedback Sony New Zealand has been able to clarify staff expectations
concerning rewards and evaluate their individual career aspirations.
“The climate surveys, together with the assessment from IIP,
have been invaluable measures for driving our new human resource
strategy,” says Stephanie Field, Sony New Zealand’s
human resource manager.
