Accreditation
Assessment
One of the milestones for
organisations using the Investors in People framework is to gain
Investors in People accreditation. This achievement serves two
purposes:
-
Acknowledges internally the efforts made
by an organisation to improve business performance and develop its
people effectively
-
Declares externally to clients that the
organisation adopts best practice in the development of its people
to ensure consistent service and delivery is
provided.
Accreditation
Assessment Process
The best way for an organisation to
find out how effective the key people strategies and processes are
working, is to talk to people about their day-to-day experience of
them. Confidential, one-to-one interviews form the basis of the
Investors in People assessment process. This
forms one of the unique features of the Standard and is
consistently well received by people at all levels within the
organisation.
On completion of the interviews, the
information is collated and analysed against the benchmark
'Indicators', or measures of the Standard and a generic report
produced reflecting current status, areas of identified good
practice and areas for further development, particularly where the
requirements of the standard have not been met.
The approach is pragmatic and uses
simple and relevant language so that the organisation is clear on
what works well and what the priorities are for next steps. This is
welcomed by Investors in People clients as we work on a philosophy
of not creating dependency but working interdependently with
organisations.
Investors in People is not a 'quick
fix' but rather a planned and structured approach to ensuring the
links between people development and business
performance.
